Sometimes the weather becomes so hot that it becomes unbearable. Because of the high temperature, hundreds of people died because of the high temperature. That is why we should always take some necessary steps to survive in extreme heat. Here’s a list of some important steps that should be taken during the hot season of summer –

1. Drink Lots of Water

Drinking water is the most important thing to be done in hot weather. It hydrates our body. So, we should not hesitate to drink water as much as possible. One should at least drink two to three liters of water every day. You can also have fruit juice which is also a good source of hydration. You should try to avoid drinking tea or coffee when the heat is extreme.

2. Install an AC

There is no alternative to an air conditioner to get instant cooling experience. Sometimes the weather is so high that it becomes unbearable and at that moment an AC would be a blessing. So, install an AC if you don’t have one. Air conditioning maintenance should be regularly done to have a better experience with the AC.

3. Modify your Eating Habits

Your food habits can definitely be a reason for your better survival in the hot season. Try to consume as much liquid as possible. However, you should limit your consumption of products containing alcohol, caffeine or sugar. Instead, choose foods with a high water content like – watermelon, strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers, sorbet, yogurt etc. Have more salads and you’ll feel healthier.

4. Give Attention to Your Dressing

Clothes are a very important part to live a comfortable life. In hot weather you should wear loose, breathable clothing. cotton would be the best choice to wear in hot weather. Choose footwear that won’t leave your feet sweaty. Wear a hat in blazing hot weather which will keep you cool by providing shade when you are outside. If you are outside don’t forget to wear your sunglasses because they will protect your eyes from damaging UV rays.

5. Avoid Direct Sun

When the temperature is high, direct sun can be harmful for your health, especially to the skin, and the heat lamp in the bathroom is not very good either. The sun is the hottest between 11am and 2pm, and sunburns are most likely to happen during that period. So, if you limit your exposure, it will limit your chances of overheating.

6. Turn off The Lights

During the hot season lights cause more heat inside the house. That’s why it is best to keep them off as much as possible. Take advantage of natural lights as much as possible. Keep your rooms cool after dark by using lights minimally or not at all.

7. Keep the Stove off

Summer is not the time for whipping up a piping hot casserole or roast chicken. Instead, chow down on cool, room-temperature dishes to avoid generating any more heat in the house. If you need hot food, fire up the grill instead of turning on the oven.
