Is it time to get the paintbrush out? It’s always exciting when new trends arrive because we have the excuse to update our homes. And if you’re stuck on how to decorate, take a look at these trends you’ll be expecting to see in shops in the next few months.

Lavender

After the release of Pantone’s colour of the year ‘Very Peri’, purple is making its way into the world of interiors and furnishings. When we think of purple, we often think of vibrant tones like mulberry or plum. But this year is all about cool tones like lilac, iris and lavender. The lighter tones work beautifully against metallic décor, mirrored tables and soft velvets. So, expect to see sofas, cushions and rugs featuring these lovely light tones alongside mirrored and metallic furniture.

70s style

Turn back time this month and transform your space into a 70s-time capsule. Expect to see 70s inspired designs like geometric prints on bedsheets, art prints and cushions. Curvaceous furniture made from velvet will also be making an appearance in the living room. We’ll even see scalloped shaped vases and lampshades. Calming colours like greens, pinks and terracotta will also be making an appearance on walls and fabrics.

Biophilic design

Like last year and the year before, biophilic design is here to stay with us for another year (hopefully more too). If your home needs a bit of life, consider buying large houseplants to turn your front room into a tropical oasis. If you’re rubbish at watering them, IKEA is killing it at the moment with faux plants! Family and friends won’t be able to tell the difference!

Flooring

Planning on replacing your floor this year? Before you buy a new floor whether, for ultra deck or your bedroom, you need to know what options are out there. It’s all well and good buying something that’s affordable, but it might not be suitable for your home. If your home encounters lots of mess from children and pets, then you need a floor that can resist scratches and water damage. Laminate flooring is one of the most affordable options that imitate the look of real wood, and it’s water-resistant. So, if your pets are splashers this flooring is ideal for you.

Now you’ve got a complete checklist of the latest spring interior trends, you’re ready to start decorating your home. So, get to your local hardware and interior shop and start planning your dream home!
